The DAWNSci Eclipse GDA and science usecases
Extend your Eclipse-RCP product to visualize data more interactively, faster and with more tools than seem reasonably possible!! The DAWNSci Eclipse project contains tools for visualising and manipulating multidimensional datasets which you can easily reuse. The API includes methods to handle HDF5 files, data slicing, plotting (1D, 2D and 3D), stacking, reduction and linking 2D and 1D plots, and manipulating regions of interest.
Diamond Light Source in the UK are contributing to and using DAWNSci. The DAWNSci plugins have been reused in an Eclipse-RCP product called Generic Data Acquisition (GDA, http://www.opengda.org). GDA controls hardware to collect data on a particle accelerator called a synchrotron. It uses DAWNSci to analyze the acquired data in real time. The talk covers how DAWNSci tools have been extended to help analyze domain-specific data from the science of spectroscopy.
This talk also covers the use of the DAWNSci processing pipeline. The pipeline is a way to assemble generic data analysis components, such as averaging, background subtraction, normalization, and sector integration. Scientists may create pipelines using these components to perform data reduction within multiple experiment domains; we will look at doing this in the science of non-crystalline diffraction.
