The use of Eclipse as a basis for a simulation platform for ecological models
Environmental and ecological simulation models can help in the understanding of natural systems and in the decisions how to manage and preserve such valuable resources for the humans. In this talk an integrated development environment for ecological modeling Bio7 is presented which is based on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform.
The software was created to analyze the spatial temporal dynamics of natural systems with simulation models. Bio7 integrates many powerful tools for scientific image analysis (ImageJ), statistical analysis (R) and spatial modeling. Several diverse programming and graphical editors are by default available for the creation and sensitivity analysis of statistical and simulation models.
In this session an overview of the embedded tools is given. Furthermore the recent integration of JDT, JavaFX and an improved R graphical user interface is presented not only useful for environmental and ecological modeling but also relevant for other disciplines dealing with the analysis of complex data and spatial temporal patterns.Bio7 Overview Video:
