The automotive industry is witnessing tremendous groundbreaking changes over the decades. The new age vehicles are equipped with more than 200 smart sensors to improve the efficiency and to cater to the ever-increasing human demands and needs. With the rapid evolution of technology, self-driving cars no longer seem like a farfetched dream but something that can soon be mastered.
This provides huge benefits but it has increased the complexity and leaves plenty of room for vulnerability and security threats. This is where distributed ledger technology like blockchain come in to picture. To describe blockchain in simple terms think of a ppt which is duplicated thousands of times in a cluster of connected computers and which gets updated periodically. Blockchain(DLT) can facilitate secure, traceable digital transactions in real time, bypassing traditional financial institutions in the process. It has the power to dramatically cut costs while increasing efficiency and cause disruption across all industries.
DLT introduces the concept of smart contracts in the form of small self-executable programs. These contracts enables to automate and monetize the valuable data, based on some predefined business rules. In the connected car industry, smart contracts can be embedded in FOTA (flash over the air) Blockchain to automatically release and transfer software updates safely to connected cars on the road.
An OSS framework is being developed in Bosch that enables smart contract development, testing and deployment. The framework is enriched with DSL editors, validators, compilers & debugging utilities which enable rapid smart contract development. The framework supports discrete types of DLT’s / blockchains such as Ethreum, HyperLedger Fabric etc.
In this talk I would like to introduce our Framework that we have developed and would contribute to the community. Also showcase the concepts, features and usage of this framework to the community.
